Osama Arafat, Chief Executive Officer.
Prior to joining Q9 in 2001, Mr. Arafat was a partner at J.
L. Albright Venture Partners where he directed a number of emerging technology companies in Canada. Previously,
Mr. Arafat co-led Isolation Systems an award-winning manufacturer of VPN solutions. In 1994, Mr. Arafat cofounded
InfoRamp, one of Toronto’s largest and best known Internet service providers. Mr. Arafat holds a Master of
Engineering from McGill University and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University.
Paul Sharpe, President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Sharpe founded Q9 Networks Inc. in 1995.
He has over 16 years of extensive experience in research, development, deployment and management of telecommunications
and Internet related products. Mr. Sharpe studied computer science at the University of Toronto and was the recipient
of an IBM Technology Award and a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council grant for his
telecommunications research.
Tim Smart, Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Smart has over 13 years of experience in corporate finance, planning
and reporting, as well as business development activities involving mergers, acquisitions
and divestitures. Prior to joining Q9 in 2005, Mr. Smart was Vice President Finance at First Asset Management Inc.
and Vice President Finance at MDC-Partners. Mr. Smart is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Masters in
Business Administration and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University.
Kareem Arafat, Senior Vice President, Software Engineering.
Prior to joining Q9 in 2000, Mr. Arafat was acting Vice President
of Engineering at ExtendMedia. Prior to ExtendMedia, he was Senior Director of Technology and Architecture at
Servicesoft Technologies. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Engineering, in Electrical Engineering from McGill
University.
Warren Bridle, Senior Vice President, Service Delivery.
Mr. Bridle has over 18 years of experience in the
Canadian engineering, computing and networking industry. Prior to joining Q9 in 2000, Mr. Bridle was the first Senior
Systems Engineer for Check Point Software in Canada. Prior to joining Check Point, Mr. Bridle worked as a Senior
Systems Engineer for Isolation Systems of Toronto, a VPN solutions company acquired by Shiva Corporation during
Mr. Bridle’s tenure with the company. Mr. Bridle is an engineering graduate of McMaster University.
David Chaloner, Senior Vice President, Marketing.
Prior to joining Q9 in 2000, Mr. Chaloner directed the Internet
marketing group for BindView Corporation, a leading provider of IT risk management solutions. Mr. Chaloner has
previously held the positions of: Director of Product Management for Netect, Director, Corporate Integration for
iStar Internet and General Manager for CRS Online, a Toronto-based ISP. Mr. Chaloner holds a Bachelor of
Arts and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University.
Richard Morton, Senior Vice President, Product Engineering.
Prior to joining Q9 in 2000, Mr. Morton had over 14 years experience in the engineering, software development,
and networking industries. Mr. Morton held various engineering and management positions with Intel Canada, Shiva
Corporation, Balisoft/Servicesoft Technologies, Isolation Systems, iStar Internet and CAE Electronics. Mr. Morton
holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Concordia University.
David Ralston, Senior Vice President, Sales.
Mr. Ralston has over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and software industries in North America and Europe.
Prior to joining Q9 in 2005, Mr. Ralston held positions including CEO of Sinclair Technologies, Managing Director of
Winstar Europe, Chief Operating Officer of iSTAR Internet and VP Sales at Bell Canada. Mr. Ralston holds a Bachelor
of Commerce degree from McGill University.
