Senior CAD Technologist

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, Data Centre Facilities, the Senior CAD Technologist operates CAD equipment to produce construction, design, building permit, and as-built drawings in support of the construction and maintenance of Q9 Data Centres and their infrastructures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares sketches from preliminary concepts for confirmation with engineering and trades specialists.
  • Prepares drawings, documentation, and specification sheets, ensuring proper scaling and detail.
  • Prepares pictorial/3D drawings as required.
  • Creates site and equipment layout drawings, sections, elevations and schedules.
  • Checks, verifies, and revises design drawings, removing unnecessary information and adding information as projects develop.
  • Changes construction drawings to as-built drawings.
  • Completes documentation packages and produces drawing sets.
  • Assists with preparation of technical reports.
  • Prepares construction specifications, costs and material estimates.
  • Participates in research and development projects.
  • Researches procedures, materials, suppliers, and installers, and recommends appropriate changes.
  • Supervises and trains a small team of technician/technologists.

Requirements

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical/electrical/plumbing design with a consulting engineering or industry-related firm
  • Excellent technical, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Technologist certification preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is an asset.
