Ontario Racing Commission Selects Q9 To Host New Web-based Information System
Toronto, ON - July 22, 2003 - Q9 Networks Inc., the leading Canadian provider of outsourced Internet infrastructure and related managed IT services, is pleased to announce it has been awarded a contract by the Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) to host a new Web-based information system.
The ORC is the Ontario government agency charged with overseeing all aspects of the horse racing industry in the province. Operating under the authority of the Racing Commission Act, 2000, the ORC establishes the rules by which horse racing is conducted. As part of its business strategy to improve the delivery of its services, the ORC has begun a long-term project to develop its own technology infrastructure.
The next-generation information system is currently being developed by Envision IT, (www.envisionIT.com), a Toronto-area developer of Web-based information technology solutions. The first phase of this development will allow the ORC to better manage its licensing and on-site track programs.
Hosting the application from one of its state-of-the-art Internet data centres, Q9 is providing a full suite of managed services, including: physical space, Internet bandwidth, data back-up, monitoring and 7x24 expert support.
"We selected Q9 through a tendering process that included an extensive evaluation of a number of providers," says Wendy Hoogeveen, Manager, Information Services, Ontario Racing Commission. "Q9 stood out because of its willingness to provide a high level of service above and beyond the contracted items. The professionalism and expertise demonstrated by Q9 staff provided the Commission with the confidence that our infrastructure would receive the support it requires."
Q9 delivers unparalleled service through a full suite of customer care products, including a Web-based portal that provides complete visibility into customer equipment and Q9 services.
"Q9 is well-positioned to assist government agencies with infrastructure requirements as they increasingly adopt the Internet to transform their operations," says Osama Arafat, CEO, Q9 Networks. "We are very pleased to have been selected by the ORC for this important project."
Q9's sole focus on Internet and related IT infrastructure allows it to hire, retain and train highly certified experts in network-specific disciplines. Key services are backed with SLA guarantees for installation times and problem identification and response. These factors enable customers to outsource critical systems to Q9 with complete peace of mind.
