Q9 Expands High-Availability Offerings With New Global Redundancy Service

Calgary, AB and Toronto, ON - September 29, 2003 - Q9 Networks Inc., the leading Canadian provider of outsourced Internet infrastructure and related managed IT services, is pleased to announce the addition of a Global Redundancy Service to its suite of high-availability offerings.

Focused on ensuring Web site availability in the event of a regional disruption, the Global Redundancy Service reroutes Web site traffic from a primary location to a secondary location. This DNS-based fail-over service allows organizations with mission-critical Internet applications to transition seamlessly between servers and sites, while providing continuous, uninterrupted service to customers.

The Global Redundancy Service is available through Q9's state-of-the-art data centres in Ontario and Alberta. The service will be of particular interest to companies with disaster recovery policies that mandate minimum distances between critical infrastructure locations.

"In light of recent events, we are seeing renewed awareness and interest in disaster recovery," says Osama Arafat, CEO, Q9 Networks. "As IT budgets increasingly make room for these types of services, Q9 is ideally positioned to provide a full range of options. The Global Redundancy Service should be considered a vital part of any serious disaster recovery plan for companies with mission-critical Web operations."

The new service complements Q9's existing portfolio of high-availability solutions that ensure continuous operation in the event of a disaster. They include:

  • Dedicated, hot-standby data centre space
  • Managed, hot-standby Internet bandwidth
  • Server imaging to support the rapid restoration of a server's base configuration
  • Data backup and restore
  • 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps Layer 2 remote link services between Q9 data centres and/or customer locations

Q9's focus on Internet and related IT infrastructure allows it to hire, train and retain highly qualified experts in network-specific disciplines. Key services are backed with service level agreement (SLA) guarantees for installation time and problem identification and response. These factors enable customers to outsource mission-critical systems to Q9 with complete confidence.
