Q9 Networks Hosts eNorthern Online Broker Web Site

Site Captures Second-Place Ranking in February Broker Survey

Toronto, ON - March 5, 2001 - Q9 Networks Inc., a leading Internet infrastructure services provider, wishes to congratulate eNorthern on its second-place ranking in the Gomez Canada Winter survey of online brokers. eNorthern moved up four spots in the February survey, pulling ahead of competitors such as TD Waterhouse, Charles Schwab, Royal Bank Action Direct and Bank of Montreal Investorline. Since Q9 began hosting the site in December 2000, eNorthern has seen substantial improvements in the speed and reliability of its Web-based operations.

eNorthern is the online division of Northern Securities Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Northern Financial Corporation. Gomez, (www.gomez.com) is the leading provider of e-commerce customer experience measurement, benchmarking, and customer acquisition services to help firms build successful e-businesses and guide consumers in transacting online.

"We have added new content and made a number of improvements to the speed and reliability of the site in the last quarter," says AnneMarie Ryan, Senior Vice President, Online Businesses, Northern Financial Corporation. "One of those improvements was our move to Q9 Networks. Using Q9's sophisticated and reliable network, we have seen a significant improvement in response time for our site, something that is absolutely critical for online investors. We are committed to delivering superior service to our customers and Q9 is helping us achieve that."

Q9 delivers highly redundant Internet connectivity services through a sophisticated internal network of high-speed equipment and data links, connected directly to multiple Internet backbones. If one backbone experiences an outage or delay, Q9 routes traffic around the problem to ensure that Internet users have uninterrupted access to websites collocated in its facilities. Q9 continuously upgrades its network to accommodate anticipated traffic growth.

The Q9 data centre provides a highly secure physical infrastructure, with redundant power feeds, HVAC, and advanced fire detection and suppression systems. Multiple layers of security, including video surveillance, security officers and biometric authentication systems, protect the facility itself. All systems are monitored from the Q9 Network Operations Centre (NOC) 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"We are delighted to be sharing in eNorthern's achievement and we wish them continued success," says Osama Arafat, CEO, Q9 Networks. "By selecting Q9 to host its core application, eNorthern validates Q9's position as the leader in the Canadian market for Internet infrastructure and managed services. We look forward to continuing to provide the combination of data centre services, high-availability bandwidth and Internet expertise to maintain eNorthern's superior level of performance and reliability."
