Afilias Expands Relationship with Q9 to Host Top Level Domains
Toronto, ON - February 8, 2006 - Q9 Networks Inc. (TSX:Q), a leading provider of outsourced Internet infrastructure and related managed services, is pleased to announce it has been selected by Afilias, a global provider of domain name registry services, to host the primary infrastructure for a number of the top-level domains to which it provides registry services.
Q9, which currently provides Afilias with complete backup and disaster recovery services for the .INFO and .ORG domains, now extends its industry-leading co-location, bandwidth and managed services to support many of Afilias' country code top level domains (TLDs) and sponsored TLDs, such as the soon to be released .mobi domain for mobile devices. In its expanded role, Q9 will ensure the highest levels of performance and reliability for these domains.
Afilias launched its registry services in 2001 for .INFO, the most successful of the seven new TLDs then selected by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Today, Afilias provides registry services for .INFO, .ORG, and several country code TLDs (ccTLDs), together supporting over seven million domain names.
