Founded in 1973, the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) is the trade union representing 60,000 registered nurses
Using Q9 for Offsite Backup & Disaster Recovery Helps Ontario Nurses’ Association Ensure Continued Service Delivery to Members.
With membership data critical to daily operations, the ONA initially wanted to find an offsite location that would protect and secure its backups, but quickly realized the additional need to duplicate its production stems infrastructure for disaster recovery purposes.
A co-location agreement with Q9 for the provision of space, power, network bandwidth and 7×24 monitoring gave the ONA a secondary data centre location to connect with its primary location in a dual-site, active-passive configuration to support backups and disaster recovery.
“When looking for a partner to provide a disaster recovery data centre location, we found Q9’s pricing model for bandwidth and power reservation to be very appealing.”
Manager, Information Technology, Ontario Nurses’ Association
With backups hosted offsite at Q9, important ONA corporate and member data is protected, secured and easy to connect to; and with Q9 as a secondary data centre site, the ONA will be able to restore operations and continue delivering services to members in just minutes if primary production systems ever go down.
